Jaundice in Hospital (Day 2)

Today's Jaundice's level was at 14.4 and it was a good start to have drop a mark of 4.3 for just half a day effort. Which means the choice of letting Sarah to drink formula milk is correct. We have decided to go home 1st while Sarah stays in the hospital for the photo therapy treatment. As she is drinking formula milk, there's nothing much we can do except disturbing the nurses at work. Went back to see Sarah in the afternoon to ensure that everything is okay. The nurse on duty had confirmed that Sarah is drinking well(80ml per feed) and passing out lots of bowel and urine. It's a very good news.

Hopefully the Jaundice level will drop more and she can come back home tomorrow....

Shannen took these pictures of Elson

Baby next door was crying loudly, but Sarah just enjoyed her beauty sleep

I strongly advice all mummies to try to give your babies formula milk when the pediatrician advice that your baby has Jaundice. Somehow it works. Either that, you can give them with alternate feed of breast milk and formula milk. Only when the baby Jaundice level has dropped then you can feed them with direct latching or pump breast milk.

Jaundice In Hospital (Day 1)

Brought Sarah to see Dr. Lilian this morning and she did a Jaudice & Metabolism test for her. Around 3pm, Dr. Lilian called and told me that Sarah's Jaundice level is @ 18.7. Which is consider on the high side and she needed to go back to TMC for the photo therapy. I was shocked and quickly gave Elson a call. After discussion, we decided to check into the hospital with Sarah. Once again, the Poh Family is back to TMC again.

All single bedded and premium rooms are taken up and we have to upgraded ourselves to the Super Deluxe rooms then(which is $700++ per room per night). After spoken to the experienced nurses, we had decided to give Sarah formula milk instead of total breast feeding. This will ensuree that Sarah is getting enough and does not keep waking up from the photo therapy. In such cases I will have to use my hands to pump out the milk and waste them(I didn't bring any pump or milk bags to store the milk).

Just gonna pray hard that Sarah will do and be able to go home on Friday morning.

Shannen enjoyed her stay in TMC cos Elson will "built" a mini princess house for her.

Jaundice

On the day of discharge, Dr. Lilian already informed us that Sarah has mild Jaundice. We are supposed to sunbath her twice per day for about 10-15 minutes each side(back & front). Since I already had experience from Shannen(she was admitted to TMC again cos her Jaundice level was @ 14.1 for photo therapy), it's easier this time for us to ensure that we "chase" the Jaundice away.

The nurse from TMC also called me up to check on how Sarah has progress. She told me that in case there's no sunlight, we can also use a table lamp(those with white lights) to shine on Sarah for 15 minutes. We did so as it was raining when we arrived at mummy place. Will be seeing Dr Lilian tomorrow. Hopefully, Sarah's Jaundice has already subsided.

Sarah Is Out (Day 3)

Felt very emotional this morning when the nurse pushed Sarah to me to feed her. I thought about what happened at the labour ward when I saw the tied knot. If Sarah would have come out a little later, we might have lost her.

Anyway, Dr. Lilian from Kidz Clinic came again around 8.30am to confirm that Sarah can go home today. She has mild Jaundice and I have to sunbath her twice per day. I will be giving her water after breastfeed her. We will 加油 together too.

We settled the bill in our room after our breakfast and left the hospital around 10am to set off to mummy's place.

Sarah Is Out (Day 2)

Since I had asked for total breast feeding, the nurses had pushed Sarah to me as early as this morning around 1am for her 1st feeding. She was able to suck well for the rest of the day and she poo poo well too. Sarah came back again around 8.30am for the next feeding and this time, Shannen was already awake and was very happy to see Sarah. Elson hold her(Sarah) for 2 hours and she didn't even want to open her eyes. Told him it's all because he didn't want to touch my tummy and talk to Sarah during her stay inside me. Lolz.....

Mummy & Huiting came over to help me while Elson need to go off for his works. Shannen was still in the hospital with me. Went to register for Sarah's birth certificate and done the baby bonus in the afternoon and we (mummy, Huiting & me) had a good Delifrance feast. MIL came to see Sarah around 5.30pm and was not allow to come in as TMC only allows 2 visitors with 1 companion (Elson) @ this moment(due to H1N1). So Huiting went down with 2 passes(with mummy "hiding" inside the room) to "pick" MIL up. Told her about the cord thing and she also said it's a blessing that Sarah came out at the right time. Elson arrived around 6pm with dinner. Huiting & mummy had some and went off after feeding Shannen (they had always been a great help to me & I love them). MIL also went off by herself as she needed to get some stuffs for prayers tomorrow.

Megan & family, Sharlene & Robin also came to see us. Megan & Sharlene came up 1st and Sharlene was very excited to see Sarah. Megan asked about the premium room that I stayed in as she was very interested in staying here too(very comfy indeed). After that, they went downstairs to "exchange" the men to come up. They will be coming to my mum's place in Punggol to see us on this Sunday.

Sarah Is Out (Day 1)

Thanks to all my friends who went me messages before I went to deliver Sarah. She is finally out now.

Gynae came to break my waterbag @ 3pm this afternoon and I only get the real labour pain around 6.30pm. Was kinda panic as Elson had went off to pick up Shannen from mummy's place. I called him using one of the staff nurses' phone(she is a very nice person, in fact, all of them were very nice to us during our stay in TMC) and he told him he was stucked in a bad traffic jam. So I told myself, I will have to wait..... Wait for Elson to come and see Sarah fresh from oven. Anyway, Nurse Ong (one of the senior staff nurse) came to check and I was only 2cm by then. Which means there's still another 3 hours to go.

Elson & Shannen arrived around 7pm and Shannen was so happy to see me @ the labour ward (she was not supposed to be there). She kept asking me where is Sarah. Lolz... Told Elson to get some dinner since he only had a tuna sandwich from Delifrance in the afternoon. He must be so hungry..... Labour pain was very consistence and kick in every 2 mins. At some point, I couldn't hold back anymore. I was very tempted to ask for Epidural, but kept telling myself, if my mum could do it, I can too. So, I kept myself cool with the laughing gas. It was very giddy......

Around 8.30pm, I was in deep pain when the contractions kick in. It was so painful that even the laughing gas couldn't do much help. I pressed the bell to call for the nurse. She checked on me again and this time I am @ 8cm. She called up Dr. Adrian and he was rushing from home. Bet he was watching Michael Jaskson's concert then. Lolz... Dr. Adrian arrived around 9pm with a black polo tee, bermuda & slippers on. He got everything ready and @ 9 plus I was trying very hard to push. This time, I can really feel that super pain. Dr Adrian asked if I wanted some help and I told him "YES!!!!" Vacuum is the only choice now. With a little more effort, Sarah was out. She looks slightly different from Shannen (@ birth). She is weighing @ 2.91kg with a height of 48cm and her head circumfrence @ 34cm. A very healthy baby indeed.

Dr Adrian told me that I was lucky to give birth to Sarah no later then today cos the cord was tied with a dead knot. He showed it to me after he cut it. Super hengzzz..... I didn't not managed to take any pics of Sarah as she was pushed to me around 1am the next day morning. As Elson was outside the labour ward with Shannen, he also couldn't help me to take any pics for Sarah @ birth. It ok anyway. I will try to take some pics tomorrow and show to all my friends..... Stay tuned!

A small accident actually happened to Shannen when the back of her head hit the shape edge of the couch. She was bleeding and Elson quickly brought her to the 24 hour clinic @ TMC. Luckily, it's just a minor cut.

Shannen's 3rd Birthday (In Advance)

Since we are not available on 16th of September this year, we had decided to celebrate Shannen's birthday in advance. Felt kinda guilty that I won't be able to celebrate her birthday for her on the actual day due to another big thing that is going to happen to the Poh Family.

Elson prepared some Korean style BBQ meats and we had a meat feast just outside mumm's corridoor. The foods were way too much.....

Shannen Draws Me

Shannen took about 3 minutes to draw this picture and I love it!
