Super Hot Weather

The weather had been super "hot" lately and Shannen had bathed 4 times yesterday. DH actually wanna bring Shannen to the Zoo but the plan was cancelled due to the super "hot" weather. At least I didn't have to rush to finish all the housework (changing bedsheets, washing 2 big pails of clothes, though I do the laundry every 2 days, cleaning all the corners of the house, mopped the floor, clearing all the lizards' shit).

Watched Frontline and Friday night and saw the poor little girl who was suffering from HFMD. She had to be hospitalised and stay away from her baby brother who is turning 1 soon. Saw the needles on her hands. Her mother had told Frontline that her DD had to be "poked" to draw out blood for tests. Can see quite a few plasters on her hands. The Chinese physician had mentioned that in order to boost up the child's immune system, there are quite a few thing which can let the child take. Green bean, lotus seeds, etc(can't remember the rest). So I decided to make green bean soup for the whole family. Not only does Shannen benefit from that, we can also enjoy some green bean soup to cool us down.

Here's the simple way to cook Green Bean Soup

Ingredients:
Green Bean - 1 small bowl
Water - 3 litres
Sugar - 1 small bowl (depends on how sweet you want)
Padang Leave - 5 leaves
Sago - 2 tablespoons

Steps :-
1) Wash the Padang leaves, fold it and put it in the boiling water. Throw in the washed green bean together.
2) After the green bean are open(usually takes about 25 - 35mins), put in the sugar and sago to stir.
3) Cook for another 10 mins, switch off the fire and cover the pot for another 10 mins. Ready to serve.

Note :-
Make sure that the green bean are open before adding sugar. Otherwise the whole pot can throw away liao, cos the green bean soup will have a bitter taste

Ways to make Barley Water :-

Ingredients : -
Barley - 2 small bowl (not Chinese barley, cos they got smell ones)
Water - 4 litres
Padang Leave - 5 leaves
Rock Sugar - 1 small bowl (depends on how sweet you want too)

Steps:-
1) Put in the washed Padang leaves, washed barley into the boiling water.
2) After 10 mins, put in the rock sugar. If not sweet enough, can add in more rock sugar
3) Turn off the fire after 15mins. Usually I will throw away some of the Barley cos they will absorb all the water.

Notes : do not cook the Barley water for too long, otherwise won't have the cooling effect
